Bookmark and Share Architecture Tour (January - February)

Vignette of objects related to Jefferson's interest in architectureGet an in-depth look at Thomas Jefferson’s "essay in architecture." Each guided tour, which will last approximately 75 minutes, will give visitors the opportunity to view, hear about, and consider the various structural and decorative elements that have earned Monticello widespread recognition as one of the icons of American architecture. The tour begins in the Making Monticello exhibition on the first-floor gallery of the Thomas Jefferson Visitor Center and includes rooms on the main floor of the house and the third-floor Dome Room.

Please note: because the Architecture Tour includes a visit to the third floor of Monticello, it is not handicapped-accessible and is not recommended for individuals who may have difficultly climbing flights of stairs.

Architecture Tour Schedule

The tours will begin at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. each day from Jan. 2 through Feb. 28. Each tour will be limited to a maximum of 18 people.
